30 Days to Being Humane :: Instruction #4

Instruction #4

Be Optimistic

**********

All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well.

 – Julian of Norwich

Friends,

Optimism is the basis of all Magic.

Not wishful thinking or faint hope.

It’s the oxygen that fuels inspiration & courage.

Optimism is the conviction of well-being regardless of circumstance.

Much of it is subliminal.

Getting in the car to go somewhere presupposes safe arrival.

Doubt mars the magic & makes one prone to accident.

*

This is more than the question of half full or half empty.

It’s being grateful you got a drink!

And the surety you’ll have one next time you are thirsty.

Being optimistic is the ability to ride big water.

To stay level in-spite of all eventuality.

The capacity to adapt quickly & without judgement to anything Life throws our way.

Turning adversity into adventure.

Routine into ritual.

Faith into trust.

*

Life ain’t never been fair.

The Material existence is fraught with danger.

It is how we respond, cope & go on that determines success in survival.

Optimistic energy underlies all activity of the Humane Being.

It inspires the conviction that we can change, not only ourselves but our World around us.

Elegantly, joyfully & bravely.

Optimism doesn’t expect Miracles.

It creates them.
